With Jake's family, since Abbie already knew (thank goodness, because I needed her!), she organized a family home evening with everybody where we talked about giving thanks. At the end, we all wrote down 5 things we are thankful for, and Chad and Teresa read them out loud. When Chad got to Jakes, he was thankful for:
his family
his wife
his eternal family
his home
and that he is going to be a daddy!
It was awesome, everybody just kept saying, "serious?" "really?" and Teresa got on the phone and called the whole family! She kept saying, "I'm so excited I can't stand it! Three babies in less than a year!"
We waited until Thanksgiving to tell my family, because I wanted to tell them in person, and they didn't get here until then. We have a tradition in our family, we always play BINGO on Thanksgiving with prizes. So, I got my mom a shirt that says, "GUESS WHAT?? MY BABY IS HAVING A BABY!!" and my dad a shirt that says, "THIS IS WHAT A COOL GRANDPA LOOKS LIKE." My mom didn't want to play BINGO because she didn't feel good, so when my dad FINALLY won (it seemed like forever), they both got a prize. My dad kind of acted like he didn't want that one, and was looking at what everybody else was opening and didn't open his. My mom opened hers though, and she was over on the couch, and immediately started crying and couldn't talk. Everybody thought something was wrong with her! Her and dad were crying on and off the rest of the night, my mom would compose herself, go to call somebody, and as soon as she started to tell the story, she would lose it again! :) They are very excited to be grandparents, and my mom even said at one point, "Kelci is having a baby and I don't even live here!" and then my dad said, "you will.." So we are crossing our fingers!
It has been such an exciting couple weeks, and I am looking forward to all the new excitements in the next several months! We aren't sure how far along I am, probably about 8 weeks, I see the doctor for the first time Tuesday! I can't wait! It makes us feel nervous but so excited at the same time. We didn't get pictures with Jake's family, but we did get some with mine! Also some semi-videos... my aunt didn't know it was on video, and thought she was taking pictures! But you get the idea of the excitement.
